Naples Hurricane Irma

Hi Does anyone know how Naples is doing and the surrounding areas- Ive seen the drone footage of some storm surge but nothing else and couldnt work out where it was or how bad those poor people have been effected. Wondering how much is still flooded, doesnt seem to mention on the news now

It really depends where in Naples, although they did take a hit as you will have seen on news coverage. Including ourselves in Cape Coral (Ft Myers) up the road from Naples a lot of SW Florida still has no power and curfews still on so it's hard to know exactly the situation until folk can get back to their homes / businesses and assess damage. We are waiting to hear about our place and it's hard to sit here not knowing, although from social network information from our local area we (fingers crossed) are okay.
The local airport and local businesses are certainly posting on Facebook etc that they all hope to be open from Wednesday so that's a good sign for the area.

We're due to fly on Saturday and travel to Naples on Sunday to stay in a villa. We've been scouring the internet and OH has been monitoring twitter accounts to try and find out the extent of the damage, but it's very difficult. We've just e mailed the owner to see if he has any information. He's not based in Florida so is also reliant upon others for info which could be very difficult without power. There is also limited gas in the area. I know publix was due to open today, so that's a positive sign!

We are due to be in Naples in a couple of weeks, we are staying at Bellasera Resort and got this update from them last night

HURRICANE IRMA UPDATE: Bellasera was fortunate not to experience any major damage from the storm. The property is currently without power and phone service. The resort is closed and will tentatively reopen on Saturday, September 16th. Please check our website for continued updates.

We are off to the Naples Grande in a couple of weeks and noticed that the hotel has a couple of holes in the roof. We contacted them and they say they are proposing to reopen on Friday 22nd so fingers crossed.

I was wondering the same about Clearwater, we have a hotel booked by the beach for a few weeks time
