Laundry on DCL

Hi,

We are cruising the Med on the Magic (I think) in June. Can anyone tell me what the laundry is like on board - top loaders or front loaders? Will washing pods be ok? How much does it cost to do a load?

Many thanks,

Karla

They are front loaders and they will take pods. On sea days and just before / during the dinner sittings they get very busy and there’s often a queue so either wash on a port day or go very early

Thanks Tinkatoo - good tip. And nice to know I can take a couple of pods with me. There is a port day mid cruise where we are not getting off, so that looks like potential wash day.

Just got off the Magic. I take a small supply of washing pods in a ziplock bag to use.

They have a screen in the laundry room where you present your room key to buy tokens for washers and dryers. The screen will also display machines on other levels that are available.

The DCL app and wave phone will also notify you when the machine is finished the cycle.

Edited at 11:04 PM.

That’s brilliant, thanks Alba20. If I get to play with some new tech gadget whilst doing some washing it will make it more ‘fun’

Just be sure to set the alarm on your phone for when the wash finishes as there is nothing more infuriating than waiting for a machine that finished some time ago but the clothes remain in there!

The reminder on the app only works if you have it open at the time the wash/dry finishes - it's not good!

Each wash/dry is $2 and it's $1 for a packet of Tide or 2 dryer sheets.
The new gadget to buy electronic tokens can be a little temperamental at times, especially when you then try to use them. Sometimes they take a token value but don't actually allow you to choose a setting, basically eating your money. A quick visit to guest services will sort it though.

The wave phone works better than the app for the reminder.
