Tokyo worth going for the 35th Anniversary?

I was hoping for some help please

We already have WDW booked for 3 weeks in the summer and 2 weeks DCL/WDW over Christmas and New Year for 2018/2019. We were hoping to fit in a trip to Tokyo Disney for their 35th Anniversary however it will be a squeeze. Realistically we would probably go in February 2019.

Is it worth going for the Anniversary or holding off until its over and perhaps going at a later date?

Personally I'd go. Tokyo Disney is like no other experience, or at least it was when went 7 years ago, and we are now going this October.

It is manic, queueing for an hour just to get a FP for the Winnie the Pooh ride (but it was amazing, far superior to Florida), and they are so polite for parades, sitting 10 rows deep, never standing, 1 hour before it starts!

But the parks are amazing, totally different rides, the atmosphere is superb and for the 35th anniversary, I know there will be some great shows and special events. People are so nice, plus we are staying on site, so it should be great.

Good luck with your decision!

We cannot wait to go

Thank you so much for your reply I really appreciate it.

We will absolutely be going however it is whether we decide to go February 2019 for the 35th celebrations or leave it a year or so as we already have a few Disney holidays booked. What a dilemma hey

We did DLP 25th Birthday celebrations and that really did make our trip. It was fab! I imagine Tokyo to be on a completely different scale...

(Is October a good time to go in comparison to Feb? That would be our only other time to visit in the year of the 35th celebrations?)

I went in Oct 2015 and the weather then was completely perfect - not too hot, just needed a light cardigan at night. There was also a light Halloween theme then (but nothing on the scale of MNSSHP).

As said above, Japan can get cold in other months!

It looks like there are some cool things going on for the 35th anniversary but to be honest I went when there wasn’t an anniversary ongoing and there was already so much to see then! You could have a look at sites like TDR explorer that do updates of ongoing TDR park events and see if you feel that the 35th anniversary special things are worth trying to fit in a park visit to see that?

It’s worth it at any time, Tokyo is fantastic and Tokyo Disney is amazing! Best parks in the world.

We went Feb Just gone and it was indeed very cold, that time of year wouldn’t be my first choice next time but it was still wonderful, we had snow the first 2 days and then clear blue sky’s but very cold the rest of the week.

If this is a special trip or you don’t think you’ll be returning for a long time if ever again then 2020 could be a great time to go, beauty and the beast expansion will open at TDL then which should be phenomenal, as is almost everything at both parks.
