Question ear defenders on rides?

anyone know if they are allowed to wear ear defenders on the smaller rides? I'm guessing its a no for health & safety reasons but wondered if anyone had ever asked.
I'd really love to do navi river but after watching some youtube vids its seems like its really loud and I don't know that ds would cope with it

We went at easter with DS who has autism and wear ear defenders. Most of the rides at Universal were ok but some he couldn't wear them but they supply ear plugs (which he hated and pulled out) We didn't go to disney so can't comment on them but i would take them.

My husband wore ear defenders on most of the rides he went on at Disney and Universal. We did only ride the gentle rides as he can't be thrown around.

My son wore his ear defenders on everything in Disney apart from Aerosmith he was to small to ride as the previous comments say universal will provide ear plugs it all depends on wether they can get away with them
