Changes to the Rider Switch system
Hello all,
I've recently got back from WDW and as I travel with two toddlers I use RS sometimes. This last time we went we were told by a few CMs that the RS system was changing soon and that they are clamping down on it a lot with shorter return times, often measuring children and only issuing one regardless of party size (so for example if there is more than one family together with multipule kids you will only be given one). This is to stop people selling them online. I also met up with some CMs whilst there who were friends of friends and they said there had been an internal memo go round on RS. I don't know what was on it but the strong rumour was that the RS system was going digital shortly. Anyway, I'm sorry if this has been posted as I haven't seen it but this article seems to confirm some rumours. I don't know how reliable it is but it's just a heads up really if you are travelling soon. Nothing in it in really affects us as the vast majority of the time we ride on our own anyway (as I suspect the days of 3 riders are gone?) but the one hour return is a bit of a pain as often we use RS when the kids are napping. Watch this space! Edited at 08:19 AM. |

Interesting. Other than the shorter return window not sure if there will be any other real impact.
We are going in September with a baby and a toddler so will be keeping an eye on this. |

The return time is far to short if it starts from when the 1st person enters the queue.

Very true. Maybe it depends on the queue length? That would not work for us really as part of the reason we use RS is so that the little ones aren't hanging around for ages outside so we spread them out over the day and like I say do the RS at nap times. So it's highly likely we won't use the RS.

Thanks for posting this. Haven’t had to use the system for years but baby number 3 arrived! I hadn’t really got my head around it with all the FP stuff too and now it looks like it’s going to get more complicated!

Sorry this will be my first trip using RS. Two adults one child. Does this mean I would ride while daughter waits with grandson and then she goes on or she has to return in an hour to do her ride? Sorry being dim

I know! I've used it loads and it's still tricky to get your head round. I think we will just have to wait and see but I reckon essentially they'll scan your magic band and effectively load it on to MDE then you'll have an hour to return.

We used it quite a lot as I have a teen and a toddler, so my teen would get to ride twice, we used it along with FP so it was very useful at epcot as we could split FP between Soarin and Test Track. I guess it will be me riding alone now if I want to go on rides.

Eeeek! Trying to get rider switch worked out for a newbie is tricky. For those that have been before, can one parent use a solo FP, AND get a rider switch token? (so i can ride after without using one of my FP). We have 2 young kids and wont be tall enough for some rides. Im sure this has been asked loads so sorry in advance
Many thanks x |
