3 hours of my life i will never get back

Last week the girls got me a Google Home for my Birthday, its a nice enough gadget and a bit of fun

so today i set it up

I know you can set up a music app to say " Hey google play my Feeder playlist "

so i set up Spotify FREE and link it to the google home app, all linked, nothing, i say " Hey google play my Feeder playlist " and it says " Cannot play from Spotify because it is not linked, please do this in the google home app " , its all done

so i decide on giving " deezer " a go, same process, set up deezer, same response

Now i am IT competent, its something i do, but i honest cannot get these to work, turns out Deezer needs the PAID for account to stream on google home, but spotify should work

tried for 3 hours, nothing is going to get this to play

We had this with the Echo and my Spotify account .
We gave up in the end and now just use it to turn lights on and off ...

my daughter had a free spotify account linked to her google home

at the weekend she got a 99p for 3 months deal for premium

we changed her account but google home would play ball

eventually we logged in & delinked the account in google home

gave it an hour

linked it again and bosh any song you want a voice command away

i guess this is the equivilent of switching it off/on again...

cant really help, but i've had no issues whatsoever using my echo dots with a spotify premium account...

When you live in a town house this is much easier than having to run down 3 flights if you forget to turn a lamp off!

This is farcical, next we will be banging the back of it

It is indefinably linked, both with the same e.mail account ( a gmail one ) and it will play through the speaker, the only thing that doesnt work is it will not play with voice command, which is surely the selling point

I can feel a trip to PC world and a rant coming on

a quick google shows its both google and Echo and happens a bit

but people are posting about changing default browsers to make it work, thats just silly and of course i have tried

When google home says it can't and starts playing the random music, log on to spotify from your phone/laptop and choose the playlist from there. Or just ask it to play radio 2 (unless it's lunchtime and Jeremy Whine is on).
