Problems choosing accommodation in New York

I have booked my New York flights and am now having real problems booking accommodation ! I think I have just looked at too many now !

We are a party of parents and a 21 year old son and 13 year old daughter.
all the hotels I have seen that look nice are 2 doubles but I cant expect son to share a double with his little sister.

Choices up to now (but I am open to suggestions !) are...

Broadway Plaza -2 doubles and a sofa but free breakfast.

Tryp Wyndham Times Square -2 doubles and a sofa but with 2 bathrooms.

Radio City Apartments-2 bed apartment. Seems perfect, 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed in sitting room. On the photographs it looks a bit shabby.

Go further out to New Jersey and get much better standard accommodation and put up with the journey in and out of New York each day.

all the above are within our budget of £1200 for 5 nights.

Sorry for ramble but if anyone has recent experience I would be grateful for any help in deciding !

Thanks all.

Try the Affinia hotels, or Stewart hotel (used to be Affinia NYC), they have 1 and 2 bedroom suites with a sofa bed

We stayed out in Jersey in a Residence Inn . I had my doubts as had always stayed in Manhattan before but we needed the space at a decent cost (girls theatre and shopping trip) . Even though it was winter it was brilliant. The bus to Manhattan stopped right outside, was comfortable (more coach than bus), cheap, ran frequently and til very late (we came back after midnight some nights).
The suite itself was great , we had 2 bedrooms and even more importantly two bathrooms, breakfast and evening snacks included. Usual Marriott standards, lovely duvets and sheets and a faux fire in the lounge (which had a sofa bed too) and full kitchen. Bus took 20 minutes to the Port Authority so a stroll up w 42nd Street to Times Square.
I'd definitely consider it again. If you need the name let me know and I'll dig it out.

Thank you. That sounds perfect especially being on the bus route. If you can manage to find the name of the hotel that would be great.

We are flying to JFK and I have read that cab drivers don't always want to take you in to New Jersey. Not sure if I could face the subway with cases.

Tryp Wyndham is a fab hotel, fab location and lovely and clean We only had a king room as just the 2 of us but I would think the 2 bathrooms would be fantastic

Thank you that’s good to hear. I do like the look of the Tryp and am surprised it is in budget. On a non cancelable rate we could even have 2 rooms within budget.
I am too indecisive. The prices will have gone up if I’m not careful !

We recently stayed at the Broadway Plaza and can't fault it, breakfast was great, beds were fantastic as was the location. We had a king room but there were other options.

It's the East Rutherford one , according to the website it's 5 miles into NYC. Arriving into JFK (some of our group did) get the airport bus from JFK to the Port Authority and change bus there for East Rutherford .

We stayed on Long Island City in the Home2Home Suites. They have rooms with 2 doubles and a sofa bed plus a kitchenette and breakfast. Only 2 or 3 stops from Central Park and the subway was a 2 minute walk. Would recommend!
