You could raise your concerns with his GP, although because of patient confidentiality they won't be able to discuss anything about him with you.

You should be raising concerns yourself, going through the GP just adds another step to the process and they won't have all the knowledge you will, either.

I'm so sorry for you and your nephew.

I'd report straight to social services with your concerns.

That’s true that it adds another step, but I think it important to speak to the GP as well as social services or the adult safeguarding team - in cases of abuse or neglect, evidence is key. And documented evidence of concerns raised with a GP will support any case.

Look up adult LD safeguarding on your local council website and speak to them. Our local team are fantastic and will give good advice. I suspect neglect and I believe that it does need to be looked into by professionals.

Very sensible advice. As the slogan goes ‘ safeguarding is everyone’s business’. It’s better to do something than regret leaving it should anything happen.

You would need to go to adults social care. I wouldn’t go to the GP i’d just directly make a referral to ASC. All referrals will be confidential and they will investigate and determine if any support is required.

Is your mum able to speak to the other grandma about her concerns. Maybe have a quiet word with her.
