Boston the week before Halloween
There are two holidays between now and then but I need to do some Boston planning! I'm heading to Boston with DSs 8 and 5 for the October half term (20th - 27th Oct) so the week before Halloween. Does anyone know of any spooky activities or events that might be happening that week? Also, where can I pick up some fun costumes and decorations to bring home?

We went to Salem on 27 October, it was fantastic, if a little tacky. The houses were amazingly decorated and there was lots of street entertainment, though, my 9 & 11 year old didn't especially like being followed down the street by Michael Myers. We ended up visiting the house of seven gables, and the memorial, as by that point we were fed up with the scary buskers. Took an hour on train from Boston.
Lots of things to buy in TJ Maxx in Boston

We were in Boston last year for Halloween - lots of lovely pumpkin displays on front doorsteps. We got some stuff from Target to get dressed up in on the night. Great place

Thank you! I thought it might be a bit far to get to Salem, but looks like we can get there in just over an hour. I suspect a day there will be planned in too!
Any other suggestions are welcome too. |

We went to Salem and went by ferry, catching the train back to Boston.
We also did the ghost bus in Boston. Very entertaining but maybe not for smaller children.
