Anyone with copper coloured hair?

I haven't been to the hairdressers for nearly a year, desperately need a trim but I also want to get my colour done.

For longer than I care to remember i've had blonde highlights and then balayage in my dark brown hair. The last time I had this done is approx 2 years ago so its very grown out and i've also been using for the last year, various colour infused conditioners that give it a reddish/pink or copper tinge.

I really fancy going copper but I could do with staying brown near the roots because of my growth, and also I do touch ups with dark brown for my greys.

Anyone gone from brunette to copper or maybe auburn? Does it stay, or is it something that fades out badly?

Any advice would be great. I was hoping it wasn't going to be the crazy cost of balayage that with my hair being long is very near the 200 mark which is bonkers.

xx

I often have three colours put in my highlights including copper. It certainly fades rather than grows out.

It fades so if roots are darker its not overly noticeable when growng out.

I use home dye kits in shades of copper and red.

After one week it has faded, by 3 weeks it needs renewing.

Mine is currently a mocha copper. It’s base shade is the same as my natural colour (a 7 whatever that means). The roots don’t look too bad before I have it redone (every 8 weeks). I have an all over colour - so not as expensive as bayalage or highlights. My hairdresser advised against a straight copper - hence the mocha copper, it’s more subtle for me.

I can agree with the others. I have 3 colours in my hair. The copper is lovely but it doesn't last more than about 4 weeks and I only wash my hair twice a week.

Thanks everyone, maybe copper is not such a great option. Maybe get my balayage redone or a full head of highlights and then just use the coloured conditioners, they seem to linger a long time and change it anyway!

I sometimes get copper put through my blond hair but it does fade quickly. Sometimes I think I would like to go full red just for a change as my roots are a dark dirty blonde, might blend in better. Would love to be the colour of my dog. 😂
