Anyone planning Greece this year?

Hello from a very hot Corfu!

After much stressing, getting through Manchester and then Corfu airports was a doddle. All paperwork was checked at check-in at Manchester - PLF’s, copies of our vaccination certificates and DD’s negative LFT certificate. We had everything printed out and just handed it all in with our passports at check-in.

At Corfu airport they didn’t appear to be doing any random tests, didn’t see anyone getting pulled aside for one, we just had to show the QR code on our PLF’s and we were good to go.

Have booked us in for the departure LFT at our hotel but as yet Haven’t organised our Day 2 tests. Was waiting to see if there was any change to the traffic light system this week, so now need to get that organised.

It has been in the high 30’s and absolutely sweltering for a couple of days and about 30 degrees today as there was a lovely breeze all day.
Ah it’ll be round before you know it, have a great time 🙂

Another puzzle is I seem to have my complete PLF and QR code now, 6 days before we fly. Last year it was midnight at the start of the day we flew it came?

I think they changed the timings on getting the QR code. We’ve already done our PLF and got out QR code and don’t fly until the 17th

Just got back from Corfu. Beautiful weather, they are having a heatwave with 30 year highs. All the paperwork checks were done at the departure airports. I would recommend printing off the PLF’s Vaccine certs etc as it is so much easier than fiddling about on your phone. What a change at Corfu Airport since 2019! Lovely airport facilities no more queueing all areas air conditioned. Landed at Heathrow at 20.15 and we’re in our taxi back home at 20:40. e gates open.

It's lovely to read everybody's positive stories about their holidays.

As posted above, its pretty warm in the Eastern med this year and very dry, so there is a significant fire risk. Don't go wandering off track if advised and just be very aware. I have been in Greece a couple of times on islands with very active fires, they can move quickly so be aware of wind direction, but this is a regular hazard and communities and responders have well established and effective response mechanisms.

For those concerned, I have found this website reassuring previously.

As you can see, at the time of writing nothing active on the islands (other than Evia).

Absolutely devastating for those caught up in them though, and another economic pressure on top of what has already been a very tough year.

Only once have we been told to pack a grab bag. We didn't need it, but be aware it is something you could potentially need to do.
