We have decided to go for a 1 bed for out Oct 2022 trip to BLT in order to save points for hopefully a 2023 trip to the West Coast. We would love to rent a 1 bed at the GC and by saving points, we would have enough for 6 or 7 nights there.

I've done some searching and it seems to be a tricky one without home advantage. So does it sound reasonable to expect to rent out our BLT points and in turn, rent from a GC owner in order to secure? I wondered if maybe David's would be the way to go. Havent ever rented out or actually rented ourselves before so I would be nervous to do so.

You can get VGC 1 beds. I’ve booked one twice last two years. But you need to be savvy, walking if necessary. Next summer is looking more of a challenge unfortunately with the points glut.

Ok, so its possible even at 7 months? (once we get this year out of the way anyway). Walking is booking early then modifying everyday? I'm not 100% sure on strategy for that?

Well I’ve managed it by walking 2 years running. Next year (summer) looks more problematic. Already there’s days missing from the calendar in June which would stop a walk. This wasn’t happening before. Points glut causing it- California was shut down longer. Next year you may be OK.
Anything can happen. For example I just got a VGF standard studio at 7 months- who would have thought possible with the points glut?
Tenacity can sometimes win out with DVC bookings.

Very true! I'll keep an eye on availability, hopefully 2022 will shift a lot of the backlog and it'll go back to normal. Haven't ever tried VGF, looks gorgeous.

I’ve never stayed there myself either- had a booking last Easter but cancelled. This one is for a Dibber who rented some points from me last year and couldn’t go. I’ve banked the points and they really wanted VGF. I didn’t think it would be possible but all lined up at 1pm yesterday did the trick.

It's a great resort to stay in, I got lucky and got 4 nights there a few years ago. The private exit from DCA was really handy as well.
