Car hire prices stabilizing?

My dates in February that were close to £2000 a few weeks ago are now £1150 for a 7 seater SUV. Has anyone else noticed a downturn in prices for their dates? Hopefully they are moving to a high but reasonable level for 2022 now the USA is open to us?

Can I ask who you’ve booked with?

Well I checked yesterday after receiving an Avis 10% deal & a small 4 door was over £140/day so £1000/week hasn't really changed

I probably wouldn’t say it’s stabilising. Normal(ish) deals have popped up throughout covid and it might just be that this is one of them. They tend to be short lived though.
I think this is the first time I’ve seen one for Alamo. Off I go to check my dates!

Maybe for Alamo in your case, but generally still seems to be pretty high, I secured £855 with hertz via andy pickup offsite for nearly 3 weeks. Yours still seems fairly high, though Alamo have been pretty expensive, so maybe Alamo have dropped it a bit.

Oh don’t get me wrong, the price is still ridiculous, it’s just less ridiculous 🤷🏼

Alamo Brits prices seemed "reasonable" downside for us is that it's airport only (I couldn't find alternative pick up points) so a full 19 days when actually a week would do. I'm currently getting a price of £674 with BA/Avis but that's still £134/day as it's 7 for 5 & apart from Busch I can uber/Lyft everywhere for far less than that!
