Who is really paying those room prices!
DW was playing around t'other night & for some reason priced up our stays for next year Our 19 night SSR studio... £7450! DS 14 night studio £5500! Then compare that with Royal Pacific at £3284/£2412!
Our stay alone is about what we paid for our contract ! Even a value is about the same as that Universal price... Disney execs must be barking mad! SD

The trouble is people are paying those prices, well at least for shorter stays in the main.
I dread to think what we would have to pay in cash for our 2022 stays. Not that it would happen as it's only through DVC ownership we can afford to stay there and indeed would never pay cash anyhow.

If people were not paying, then prices would drop until occupancy was achieved.
It is exactly the same with the current airline prices, particularly for directs during school hols.. people must be paying! I suspect there are DIBBERS buying also, but possibly reticent about broadcasting the fact.

I have rooms booked for the summer, but am fully intending to cancel before I pay the balance - been waiting to see how things pan out with respect to dining etc, but as it stands I will just cancel.
There could be a lot like me I guess? |

Thinking about the same. We have 2 Rooms booked CBR roughly £6000 plus. For 13 nights. Will probably look at 3 bedroom condo for a third of that price. The £4000 saved will pay for more expensive car hire and all our meals on and offsite and tickets.
The condo will be miles better than disneys boxes. However leaving the bubble is not an easy choice. Sorry think I’m on the wrong group. Just noticed it’s a DVC thread. But is relative i suppose. We are all being ripped off. Edited at 04:39 PM. |

A complete no brainer in my view. To me the only advantage left with being on site is for those who don't drive or don't wish to drive. Maybe solo travellers as well if they like the added security feel it brings.
I would not be staying on site at all if we didn't own at SSR. Villa all day long. Edit. I have just checked out room prices, hells teeth. I picked a random 21 night stay at CSR. £5300 approx for late April and £6048 for mid August. Our annual dues for not much more than that April price gets us 10 weeks at SSR in a Studio.

Free dining and 60 day fast passes helped justify the high cost a few years ago. Now thats all gone
There can't be that many places in the world that can charge upwards of £400 a night room only without even offering a daily clean :-) |

We have been looking at booking for a while. Never got round to booking.
But I can massively see the benefits of DVC or renting DVC points. Boardwalk on Disney holidays with flights in 9k for 14 nights. Currently the same fight is around £2.5k. If you rent via a point rental site a room is around £4000. Even with the £900 food credit from the last offer thats a massive difference ! |

You can definitely see how they are managing to push DVC, at those sort of prices! Although I'm not sure I'd pay the latest rates but then I sort of know that DVC isn't worth those Direct prices IYKWIM If we didn't own we would be offsite in cheap & cheerful & buy 3-4 nights at Universal every trip- at least you are getting something for your money

I think paid FP are going to hit them in the back. You can stay offsite and use the money difference to pay for G+ and a la carte attractions daily and have a better experience than someone staying onsite. As more people realise that Disney may start to regret the whole idea.
If I didn't have DVC, I would never stay onsite. |
