Renting DVC points and flight planning

Hi All.

We are looking at trying to arrange a trip from the UK for Late August (partners a teacher boo)

We are hoping to rent points to do a 10 night stay at Beach club and then maybe 4 nights at the Poly.

Whats the best way to try and get a trip like this booked.

Book flights first and then rooms or room first and then flights ?

Would we have issue with the amount of nights in these resorts doing late august ?

I believe we will need around 172 points for Beach club and 63 for Polly are DVC points for these resorts more expense or is around $18 the going rate.

Thanks.

If you have to stay there then I'd book Hotels first, if Plan B is "happy to stay anywhere" then book flights or hotels first. But for those 2 you really need to be booking now, especially the Poly as there's only 2 categories of room - Studio & huge!
Checkout Dave's DVC resale for availability then shop around but $18 seems low, we've just rented out at Dave's & I think they charged $19.50, of which we got $14.50.

Thanks.

I see why owners try and sell private if $14.50 is the Daves rate. Maybe I will get lucky and find an owner with points at a good rate !

With the prices of cash rooms now hitting astronomical sums for many properties, I think Dave’s and private owners will quickly be jacking up their rates. I’d want $20/£15 for mine now I think minimum. A studio at Bay Lake before Christmas is now going for $878 cash, plus parking so DVC rates are still a fraction of that even at $20 a point.
If you want a studio at Beach Club you should start securing it now, before you near the 7 month mark. Summer is quiet DVC time, but even so, studios at Beach Club go quickly and even if there are some left at 7 months out they will usually go day, or within days they become available.
Also look at Boardwalk, we prefer it and there’s more availability plus the standard view rooms if you want to keep cost a bit lower (best value DVC rooms on property).
There’s a points glut at the moment due to the pandemic which hopefully we will see easing a bit next year. Usually a studio at Poly in August can be obtained 7 months out, but ideally again get in there before the 7 month out date if you can with a Poly owner to be 100% sure.

To update this.

I booked my flights a few weeks ago with a universal hotel. A very kind member from another forum booked CCV and BWV for me on the 7th month windows.

BCV was sold out sadly. But BWV looks equally as amazing and same location so cant complain !
