Probably a daft question...

Upon returning to UK I know we need to have booked a private LFT which will then provide us with a code to put on our forms.
The new announcement tonight now says we need a PCR ... we arrive 23rd so planned on going straight for a PCR drive in on the way home... which makes me question why we need the LFT? I get for travel NHS ones aren't accepted (which in itself is nuts) but why do we need to pay for a private LFT when we need the PCR on the same day! ?

Have you not just got caught between changing requirements? It was the LFT and now has changed to PCR?

Does the PCR have to go on the PLF? What if your doing this when you land as a walk in at the airport?

It was LFT now it’s a PCR that’s required in the 2 days you return to the UK AND all travellers need to self isolate until they receive a negative result.

LFTs will no longer cut it.

The issue we have is we will need to do the test the day we arrive as need to get back to work/school, also will need same day results, so gone from £80 lft to £480 for pcr, (4 people) that’s if we get to go that is, government also said they will review it again in 3 weeks time, great that gives me a week to cancel everything if restrictions get tighter. Think I might just pre order that turkey after all.

You need the PCR booking reference for the PLF even if testing on arrival at the airport

Yes private PCRs and you need the booking reference number to fill in the passenger locator form for return flight
So they will need to be booked either before you fly or while you are in Florida
