Thank you everyone. I think we will give it a miss., it doesn't really sound like our kind of thing. Gill, thanks for the recommendation for the Southbank markets, that sounds lovely.

We went today and whilst it was a lovely day out it’s incredibly expensive and so busy. Especially as the evening goes on, it got full of drunks. Didn’t help with the tube strikes either we had to walk much further than planned.

We live locally and so I took my 3yo earlier in the week. We had to prebook but could get free tickets if we went in the morning. Not sure I’d pay to get in, the market bit was pretty average and prices of food and rides really high. That said he loved looking round and wants to go again.

Another vote for the Southbank Mkts MP, we love Borough Mkt at the South side of London Bridge.

As you walk over the bridge toward the Southbank, at the far end, not far from London Bridge main line railway station, you will pass a nice Weatherspoons on the right, then see Southwark Cathedral (The starting point of the Pilgrims Way walking path to Canterbury Cathedral) and there is a flight of steps that descend and leads to the Market.

You can then walk all the way along the Southbank to the London Eye and beyond. There is the Xmas Market, shops, and nice restaurants and places for a coffee.

Enjoy

Thanks Dis. DH used to work right by there. We used to get amazing falafel wraps on his lunch break from that little stall just down those steps when I used to go down to stay with him.

We were considering visiting WW during our stay at HRH next week but looking at reviews and prices we decided to just mooch around taking in the Christmas decorations elsewhere and take a trip to Southbank.

If they are doing the Rekorderlig lounge that's a nice cosy place for a hot mulled plum cider!

We used to come over from the North of Ireland to the Winter Wonderland and had some great experiences there, seems like it is not the same now. Pity

New options opening now though.

I last went in about 2016 and found it overcrowded and overpriced, and frankly not much there. Having done lots of Christmas markets in various countries, I wasn't impressed. I much prefer the South Bank stalls where you can wander without feeling crowded in. Plus there is a little area with a tent that has live shows as well as other things to do.
