Universal express passes from hotel trick

Thinking of booking 1 night in a Universal hotel to get the 2 day express passes. How early can you check in on day 1? I see that the express passes are on the room card but will they give you room cards that early if the room is not ready until later?

We checked in at 7am. You can leave your bags in their luggage storage. We only had an overnight bag so just left it in the boot of the car. They messaged me later in the day to let us know the room was ready.

as early as you like, certainly for before park opening, but room might not be ready until later, they will send you a text when it is. You can leave your bags with luggage services for no charge.

Just agreeing with everyone, we've checked in early doors and never had a problem.

We always check in around 7am and they give you temporary room keys from what I remember which are used as your express pass

We always do this and check in as early as possible. Usually 7-7.30. Can leave bags with concierge and Room keys are passes.
They text you when rooms ready (or sometimes not) but the rooms have to be ready for 4pm.

We do this every trip, one overnight in an express pass hotel, have done the 3 now, personal preference RPR, check in when you like, and ride as late as you want after checkout the next day

If taking a car, be aware that the hotel car parks can be full as people haven't checked out. If they are, just go for valet parking and tell the reception staff ... you'll only be charged standard. (Parking is charged per night... the parks charge per day, so you save a bit there)

Also, early opening is not as great as it used to be as all universal hotels have that benefit (and there's a lot of rooms!) with not many rides open.

But the express access is just wonderful. The ability to spend so much time riding and so little queueing is so exiting. "can we go again"... it is great to answer YES!

Thanks all, wasn't sure if you'd get the room keys first as lots of hotels won't give you room keys until the room is actually ready. Good tip about the parking too - makes it worthwhile to park at the hotel rather than the lot.
