TC

When somebody starts a new thread on some courses I've been on over my 50+ years (and I don't mean skills training or Excel Intermediate ) I'll gladly contribute but I won't take this thread any more off topic.

The number of flip charts I've stood at with variously coloured felt tips.

This one has really started to annoy me note that reach out! Your hotel is full but we will find you alternative accommodations

Also the Irish roots thing, I was once on holiday in New York with some Irish friends and it was really winding them up when evry other person in the bar was saying they were Irish, the friends kept asking them which part of Ireland they were born but it seemed to go over their heads!

We just got back and according to a conversation overhead in the Epcot, the UK is made up of England, Ireland, Scotland and London.

I hate it when you thank someone and they go mmhmm back at you. How difficult is it to say you're welcome, no problem or even ok?

Seriously, how often have you heard an American actually say that? Most Brits think Americans say "you're welcome" too often. Wasn't that even mentioned in an earlier post?

Only hear it multiple times a day. It's flipping rude.

Considering I have lived in Florida close to 6 years now I can honestly say I use quite a few of those phrases and didn't even realize that some were out of place until mentioned above. Unfortunately you kind of have to adapt if you want to be understood lol. And since my daughter is now 3yrs old and in school I dont want to confuse her with "rubbish" and "trousers" so I say "trash" and "pants" etc.

I still tell everyone it should be maths though and cant stand the way they say "Craig" or "Graham". I'm basically English with a hint of American lol.
