From NY to LA - Day 10 - More Vegas
6th September - Labor Day
I was up early and went off on my own for a walk around the hotel - and to find a coffee. There were loads of people checking out - and even more people queueing for Starbucks! I managed to find where the pool was and also a food court and another small row of shops and restaurants - all within the hotel. Back out at the pool I noticed that the lazy river inner tubes start from $16 a day! This evening we were going to be meeting up with my parents' friends Kevin and Marleen from Denver - the parents of the girl we met in Scottsdale. They have been friends for years - ever since meeting in a Kareoke bar in San Francisco! When everyone was up and ready we headed off to Planet Hollywood for a breakfast buffet. By the time we walked there it was about 11:15 ish so we were charged for breakfast but they were also in the process of bringing out lunch. It was lovely! The best one we had DS enjoyed his dessert! We walked down to Paris and decided to go in and have a look around. The hotel reception area was lovely All the lifts that we went in to in Vegas were staffed by elderly people. They were all lovely and friendly and loved to talk about their city. Great to listen to. Great views from the Eiffel Tower! We walked past the Flamingo where Donny and Marie were playing (no one would go with me! ) and on to the Venetian. We had a wander around here and I had a weird cup of tea! The teabag was like a perforated plastic thing with compost in it! We then went across the road to Caesar's Palace to have a look at some of the shops and moving statues. It's a huge hotel! My dad got a bit fed up again... this time outside D&G! DS had to move away from him because he started snoring! I had to get a pic of Donny in here! DDs back had started to play up and it was still a bit of a trek back so DM, DF and DD caught the monorail from Harrah's I think. It was about 100*F again and there were people here selling iced water too. Much needed! One day we say police frisking them and tying their hands behind their backs as it's illegal to sell in the street. We also encountered the people handing out cards. DS was targeted (21) but he just kept his hands in his pockets. DD, DM and I never had a problem... except for the fact that they congregated at road crossings and were in the way! DH, DS and I carried on walking and walked through Crystals the new mall at City Centre. By now we didn't have much time to look around because we were meeting my parent's friends from Colorado who were also going to stay at MGM. This is a restaurant inside Crystals: We met up with everyone at 7:30pm and Kevin and Marlene decided they wanted to go for a buffet... nnnoooooooooooo! We still hadn't recovered from breakfast/lunch yet! Then they decided to go to Fremont Street and get food there so we caught the Ace down. This bus doesn't stop at all hotels - but still takes a fair amount of time to get to Fremont Street! It was packed! We went for an AWFUL cheap buffet at the top of the street - just as well we didn't really feel like eating. Lots to see though. There was a couple of bands playing and it wasn't a bad evening - but I could easily give it a miss if I went again! We caught the bus back - had a Starbucks from our usual people watching post while the others played on the slots. Day on our own planned for tomorrow.

Wow, busy day.
I must admit that we were not big fans of Fremont street when we went there. I think they ruined it a bit when they closed it off. Would have prefered to go there when it was still as it was in the Bond movie... open road and no roof!

'Ice water, $1', that refrain was ringing my head during my trip to Vegas *lol*, it was a standing joke between me and my friend Leeanne!
Didn't get to visit City Center, that's on my list for next time. Your DS is like me and went for the candy floss, i was excited when i saw it at the PH buffet! |

Have a look at today's front page of the Daily Express! Apparently he (and Marie) is being sued by the producer and being called "devious, fraudulent and greedy" !
