London LHR vs LGW on Virgin Atlantic to FL

Hi all hope you all had a Merry Christmas

we have always used BA in the past planning to go to FL after my DS GCSE exams end of June 2021 i believe.

so I'm started to plan from now to get an idea

been looking at flights for end of (June 2020 just as a guide as i cant view 2021 just yet) for 4 of us me, DW, DD, DS
there seems to be a big margin from flying out/to LHR

flying out econ delight coming back premium
LHR-MIA £3383
LGW-MCO £2792
price seems good?

for us the holiday starts on from the moment we get on board, besides using LHR which is more convenient what if any are the differences on the aircraft itself?

TIA

It depends. The 747s which currently run on the Gatwick-Orlando route might have been replaced by the new A350s by summer 2021. In my opinion premium is a lot worse on the new aircraft than the rest of the fleet, the seat is only like an inch wider than economy on the new planes.

Currently the Heathrow-Miami is run by A330s. These would pretty much be the same to other virgin aircraft you’re used to.

Closer to the time, yes. But it's never a good idea to book a particular flight just so you have a particular type of aircraft, as they can be moved around.

As we found out when we booked a flight to NY to be on the 787, then they had engine problems so we were moved onto a much older A340!

I believe BA flights from LHR have more modern interior than LGW

We're flying BA from Heathrow to Miami in October. At present it's showing as an A380, which I expect to have a pretty modern interior.
BA flights from Gatwick to MCO use 777 aircraft, just about all of which now have refurbished interiors, but the planes themselves aren't new.
