Books For A 9 Year Old Girl

Help please!

Our Granddaughter is coming to us for a week on Sunday. I suspect because she wants to see her Nana have her staples out!

However she reads a lot and is probably at a 10yr old reading stage.

I have previously got her the Dork Diaries and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and have exhausted all of them

Can I have some suggestions please? I tried the Harry Potter ones but she wasn't fussed.


I was encouraged to read a lot and I am pleased she is so want to keep the impetus going.

Tom Gates / Amelia Fang / Geek Girl (my DD is ten!) Jacqueline Wilson’s books aswell.

My DD is 10 and loves Jacqueline Wilson books. They are very girly though.

My son loved Michael Morpurgo at a similar age. DD is reading one in school now - War Horse and previously Running Wild.

Some of the Jaqueline Wilson ones are brilliant for that age.

Some great David Walliams books, enjoyed by boys and girls. My grandson ( soon to be 9) but quite advanced in reading age loves them. Some of the stories like Gangster Granny she will be familiar with already

My ds loved a book called Wonder by R.J Palacio. It then became a film and I think they read it in class too. A book for boys or girls.

Have a mooch in your local library, my DD enjoyed the classics at that age, Swallows and Amazon’s, Railway Children, Little Women, Good Night Nr Tom

I remember a book for a 10 year old Granddaughter, cant think of the author, but the title was something like...

‘’How to wrap your Grandad round your finger’’

Come to think of it, she has probably already read it...

my daughter liked the Percy Jackson series, books much better than the films.
would agree with other poster Wonder is great too.
