Who knows anything about S75?

I have a question, hopefully one of you lovely knowledgeable people will be able to help.

My mum paid a deposit of £77 on her credit card, with the balance of £1000 on her DEBIT card Is she covered for a section 75 claim? I’m trying to find out as the rules state the item has to be over £100 which is was in total, but as the balance wasn’t paid on the credit card is she covered?

It’s for a cruise with her friend, she’s waited over 90 days now and keeps getting fobbed off.

Edited at 03:27 PM.

Section 75 is only applicable to credit cards in the UK.

The goods/services must be over £100 and under a certain figure .

As payment on the credit card was less than £100, there is no claim.

Section 75 does not apply to ANY debit cards.

This may help you;

I understood S75 to be as long as the item costs over £100 it doesn’t matter how much was on your credit card as long as some of it was. I am sure someone like YorkshireT will come along who is the expert !

You could do a chargeback?
Thats when you don't receive goods or services that you are entitled to and paid for AND you have contacted the supplier and they have failed or delayed to pay your claim?

That sounds a bit more promising and is less hassle.

You will need to contact the credit/debit card company.

Heres a link to help.

So long as its a UK Credit Card and the total price per passenger is over £100 it could be covered by s75

I say could be, because there are a bunch of other hurdles around things like did she pay the cruise company direct or did she go through something liek lastminute to buy it

You are correct. Its if the goods/service costs more than £100 and even if you only pay a deposit, its still enough to give you protection under section 75.

My apologies.
This explains it very well.

I thought that it might be covered under s75 as she had paid some on her CC. Total cost was over £1k and it was booked through Iglu cruises I think. So I’ll have to have a dog to see if that’s covered.

I claimed back the money for my Norwegian flight that was cancelled and Barclays returned my money and I paid with a debit card, I had to wait 4/6 weeks just to be sure Norwegian paid the bank, the money was back in my account in hours,
