My son is at high risk of melanoma due to his immunosuppressant drugs and we buy ultrasun sports spray for him.

My mum just uses Boots Soltan and has had no problems.

Apply plenty, and regularly.

Other than sun cream and aloe Vera, would you recommend any other useful things for someone starting radio/chemo?

Thank you everyone - I’m going to make a list and do some research. I’ve picked up the Holland and Barrett aloe gel so that’s also great to know that it’s good!

Aveeno cream to moisturise skin- they do all different kinds but when I was really sensitive to smell I could only use the blue unscented one. I stupidly put my favourite face cream on my face on a poorly day and now the smell reminds me of that and I can’t stand it now 😒 some baby oil in a bath is an easy moisturise when it’s too much effort too.

Non-skin related, one of the biggest things I’ve used is my Brita filter in the fridge. Hydration is so important but can be so hard.

I’m finishing chemo this week (as long as I can shift this head cold before my bloods on Tuesday) and it’s a rough ride but keeping busy and talking to people about it all has helped me through. If you need any other ideas just shout

Congratulations on finishing chemo this week (hopefully) that’s massive!
I finished radio at the end of May last year and went to Florida in October. I used ultrasun factor 50 on my chest area where I had the radiotherapy and this was great - even in the water parks. As you say hydration is key. I also used aloe Vera immediately after treatment each time and moisturised morning and night.
Good luck with it and have a fabulous holiday- you will have earned it!
