I used B&Q, they werent pushy at all, and let you wander around, but were very helpful when you spoke to them.
Really you need to find your kitchen fitter, and see what they recommend and what discounts they get, as Howdens prices massively range in price depending on who you are and how often you use them, we found B&Q much cheaper and our fitter liked them so it was easy sold reallh

We used a smaller local company, they were brilliant, the coordinated the whole project, they spoke to each other and just told us when they (kitchen fitters, plasterers, electrician) were all turning up etc.
In the show room we werent rushed or pushed, they had a few kitchens on display but had lots of doors, samples of countertops etc etc.

We did visit wren but found it too complicated and too many choices.
Also looked at wickes too but with this place it just felt right

We went in the same circles as yourself - we went with Ikea in the end.
Very happy.

We used them. Significantly cheaper than the mainstream - but when you look at things like carcass thickness etc they are better. Unless you pay top dollar for a German brand they are as good or better than b&q, wren etc etc.

The units all come pre made - which our installer loved.

If you want samples they post loads out to you. There is 1 showroom if you are in the right part of the country.

Only downside to them is that every order is made to order. The issue being if you make a late change or there is a quality issue you have to wait. Now i was being rather picky, but 3 doors and 1 end pa el had very slight marks. I sent a picture, no quibble they agreed to replace them, but it took 2 weeks. Which can slow things down.

Also have a look at ikea. Not used them but when we researched it seemed a lot of people felt they were good quality for the price.
We travelled up to Yorkshire from Surrey to see them with our own eyes as read lots on here & web in general praising them. We are getting our kitchen from them.

Please don't go with Wren! My kitchen still isn't finished 18 months on from when it was started 😤! We've had issue after issue, the design is not right or what we signed off on, the customer service aftercare just can't seem to get it sorted at all, doesn't help the staff turn over is huge so you get lost every time. You can't claim any compensation until the kitchen is complete and of course the kitchen is never complete 😠! Really, really wish I could turn the clock back and go with someone else!

We have a Magnet kitchen that was fitted by them in 1973 - there have been 4 sets of owners of the house since then - none of us has changed it.

It is grey so now back in fashion... no need to change it as it is so robust it will last me out.

So - can recommend a magnet one...

How awful it is shocking that you can't do anything after 18 .months. Hope you get it sorted soon ...That appointment is definitely getting cancelled
