This is the reason I have now got an account, after years of travellers cheques didn't want a currency card but not keen on taking all cash. I can save in the account and keep it just for Florida Also withdraw up to £300 a day at ATM if needed

I didn’t realise you couldn’t convert to a foreign currency beforehand, to lock-in the exchange rate.

How does this account differ from other current accounts then, and what makes it good for travelling ?

I have turned on the "round up" function. Quite surprising how that creeps up and I don't notice it when paying as I tend to think in round pounds anyway.

No fees when using abroad is one of the main benefits I have it for. They use MasterCard exchange rate as the card carries the MasterCard logo.

I’ve never heard of it! Is it the same as a no fee credit card? I already have a couple of them I use abroad. What are the benefits?

It’s similar in that there’s no fee for foreign transactions. I have them both. Starling pay interest on your balance and have savings pots which I find handy.

I don’t use a debit card abroad unless it’s an absolute last emergency resort. I worry that if it’s scammed, my account could be cleared of MY money.

If a credit card is scammed, it’s not really my money, I wouldn’t be out of pocket. I take 2 CCs just in case...

I’ve got a Starling card too and DH it was really easy to set up a joint account.

I’m using mine for matched betting purposes at the moment but will definitely look to use it for our Florida trip too.
