My periods went really light at first (after a couple of months?). After about 6 months they stopped altogether. I remember getting terrible cramps the first 3 months or so but I've had it 18 months now and no periods for nearly a year.

I bled every single day for 15 months, albeit lightly. I kept being told too persevere but after 15 months I decided enough was enough and had it removed.

I've been really fortunate with mine, same as Archibald only notice that I'm on when I wipe! It's my second and the doctor said I may not need another one! That was tough to hear. So sorry to read that it didn't work for others as it's such a quick procedure and practically painless, compared to a hysterectomy. Fingers crossed it works out.

i haven't had a period for 17 years and only had 2 mirenas in that time as not used for birth control. Still get the hormonal ups and downs though.

I’m on my 4th. The first 3 worked great; after a couple of months, progressively getting lighter after the first one was fitted, I had 15 years of no periods (after struggling with very heavy periods when I was younger). After my 4th one was fitted, I started to have spotting again which I‘ve now had for about 3 years. Still not monthly, and like others have said really only needs a panty liner. Not sure why the last one has been different, but at 47, maybe my hormones are changing as I head towards the big M?

I'm still on my 1st. Been nearly 3 years. It took about 6 months to fully settle down. I haven't had a period for about 2years. Still get monthly cramping and sometimes pelvic pain but compared to what I coped with before it's great. I know a few colleagues who couldn't get used to them and had then removed so it's not right for everyone.
