Universal Club Level Upgrade?
Hi,
Has anyone upgraded to the club level at Universal hotels? What sort of prices did you pay if you did and was it worth it? We are staying at Loews Royal Pacific in August. Did you upgrade direct with the hotel or virgin etc? Thanks

Booked HRH for 1 night August 2020, Club Room, 1 King Bed, Non Smoking (Hard Rock Club) was only £5 more than standard queen room at time of booking. booked through Hotels.com so i can use a reward night against the price.

I emailed RPR about this as we have waterview 2 queen room booked through Virgin. The hotel replied that they couldn’t do anything as we booked through 3rd party and all we could do is ask at check in, and we would pay whatever that days rate is. Thinking we wont bother haha

We’ve never upgraded after booking, we’ve just booked Club level from the get go. Price difference if I recall correctly for the Portofino Bay was £24 extra per night for the club rooms for the time we are going (first week of September).

I booked through travelbag and to upgrade to club level was over £40 each so I haven't done it. If it was cheaper like the prices you're saying I would be tempted.

From memory if rooms are available at check in, the cost last year was $100 to upgrade to club for the room a night!

It varies so much, we originally booked a water view room with hotels.com but I checked the prices often and one day the Club level rooms were showing up as cheaper than the rooms we’d booked - thank goodness for free cancellation! We just rebooked the Club level and cancelled the original booking, although I’ve subsequently found out that if we’d rung them they’d have done the switch and refunded us the difference. It was no hardship to do it our way though.
