Basically, you buy the miles flown for your flight or one you have already been on. I paid £40.86 for my Atlanta flight as its 4086 miles. You can double it if you choose. I think I paid the best part of £120 for 12300 odd miles
If you buy miles, they cost you £1.50 a mile. So I would have paid £180 for those miles. Im doing this because Im definitely flying again after these holidays are over, hence, I think theyre a good idea

How many miles does that cost roughly per leg?
Is there a chart somewhere that helps?eg time of year, class etc and upgrade amount ?
Just wondered as I have 10,000 virgin flying club miles unused and dont know whether or not to start using virgin again or stick with United (go from dublin) and maybe do a miles and money booking with virgin to go to vegas some time soon.

It was 22400 for the both legs. There is a table on the website as it depends on the route and season.

Try this which shows the chart for new flight bookings and upgrades to existing bookings if permitted- virginatlantic/gb/en...d-flights.html

Hopefulholiday's Reviews
Hotel Reviews: 2
I’ve booked Economy Delight for our outbound journey and PE return, I’d quite fancy upgrading to PE but the number of miles is the same for Classic or Delight and I paid quite a lot more for Delight which doesn’t seem right that it should be the same.
I’d be happy with classic but dh and ds have long legs and a bit more legroom makes their flights much more comfortable, before the changes I’m sure I could have selected extra legroom seats for them and my dd and I could have selected normal seats close by.
Nevermind, I still feel lucky to be going on holiday there again

Done exactly that for xmas. Dont worry , your ELR seats are fantastic if theres a 2-4-2 config.

UPDATE
My upgrade for Economy Delight seats has just gone down from £80 to £50pp . So I just now upgraded . They might go down even further but they only had row 41 worth booking. Didn't want to lose them.. Row 43 was also available. But dont like that row as the normal Economy seats behind will be too close . .Happy flying ED outbound and PE inbound

I thought about waiting but as I had miles to use and wanted to be in the bubble I thought I had better book.
