checked in online BA - no boarding cards - check passport and visas at airport

Is this a new thing? i've had it before where i've been pre-selected, but the rest of the family could get boarding cards (I think) I have requested they stop randomly pre-selecting me; so i'm sure that doesn't improve my chances at not being randomly selected.

We all have ESTA's and API is complete (although the BA website said something was missing, clicking through everything was there.) will go over the passports and ESTA information this afternoon, just after some reassurance / personal experiences (within the last month or so). luckily doing overnight check in, so will get it sorted then. just need to be prepared

Are you doing a connecting flight first? We had that a couple of weeks ago when starting at Newquay. They gave us boarding cards on check in there but we got pulled at the gate in Gatwick to show passports as we hadn�t used a Ba desk.

Flew to TPA on 1st September; checked me and DH in online; I got the option to choose how I wanted my BP; said that DH could not choose how he wanted his BP and would HAVE to collect it at the airport (which we always do anyway).
Did bag drop; no issue; at boarding, DH was asked to go to one side as selected for additional bag check; took all of 1 minute.

For the last 6 months or so, every US flight we've checked in for online (3 trips) has said that Visa & passports have to be checked at airport; no issues on any occasion.

thanks, I was able to print out all boarding cards, it was mobile boarding cards which weren't available (maybe because of a baby), maybe because i've been randomly selected .. why can't I be randomly selected as often on the lottery!
so might be a baby, might be a ' in the surname, might be security check ... ooh maybe I get a free upgrade ...

Update. Checked in yesterday all good, just had to rescan passports, no issues mentioned other than that. Fixed my random security search. Booked a lounge and got premium security. Starting to think they recognise that you have used premium before, and there is an alarm because you are slumming it in the regular queues.

I tried to check in online on BA website a couple of weeks ago and it wouldn't let me. Said i had to do it at the airport. Tried again on the BA app and it did it no problems and issued mobile boarding passes. No idea why!

We had this last time and when we got to the airport, all 4 of us had been upgraded to business class!
