Using mobile phone in USA

Hi,

Sorry if this has been covered before, can I use my BT mobile in Florida without a huge bill? I've tried looking it up but not come out with an accurate answer, we're going as a party of 6 so will need to be able to contact each other whilst we're there.

Any advice will be great, thank you 😊

WhatsApp using Park/hotel WiFi? Free to use. Invaluable to us last August.

That's what I was going to suggest, turn off mobile data. Someone in our group had his phone with the 3 network which is free to use wherever you use it.
When he got home he got a text saying if he had been with a different network his bill for that month would have been over Ł4000

We always turn off mobile and roaming, and use the free wifi in the parks and the hotels. (Always had good signal)

There are plenty of places with free wifi.

If you are not with three you can get a pre loaded sim from them for Ł20 to use for 4 weeks, feel at home all you can eat data( capped at 12gb) unlimited texts and minutes, although the mins only apply if you are phoning a uk phone not if your phoning say Disney etc.
I used to buy the sim for my USA hols. But a few weeks ago I decided to ditch Vodafone and go with three via the Martin Lewis website I’ve now got the feel at home sim for the price of Ł12 a month. Plus cash back through quidco.
Last week after returning from Florida a text from three said that my bill would of been Ł2700 if I had been on a different network!

Thanks for the advice everyone, I think we'll get a 3 sim but use wifi where possible. With BT you can have an add-on but can't use your data so works out very expensive.

We are both on the ‘3’ network. After our last trip I received a text saying I’d saved Ł3000 on the feel at home contract.

It's still 12 if you have a contract and you haven't "upgraded"
