Mobile What do I need to know about flying indirect?

Hi lovely Dibbers!
We’re doing our first indirect flight as a family in October and was hoping for any tips/tricks/necessary info from all those very experienced travellers out there!
We fly BHX-DUB-MCO (and the reverse on the way back). We have a 1 1/2 hour connection on the way there and 1hr 20 mins coming back. Obviously there’s pre-clearance on the way out to be negotiated but any advice/pointers about flying indirect would be much appreciated. Thank you. Rx

As you're flying through Dublin and preclearing immigration to the USA, there's nothing to know. Get off one plane get on another.
Indirect is only "special" if flying via a US hub.
Not sure if you collect luggage in Dublin, sure someone can advise, but I suspect not.

Your luggage will go straight through to MCO
We did similar route in 2016
It's great clearing customs in Dublin
Straight off plane at MCO and collect luggage and away

In Dublin they will likely show you a photo of your luggage and just ask you to confirm. Looking forward to this service eventually coming to Manchester.

That’s our route 😄

Do you know which plane you are taking BHX-DUB? Reason I ask is that if it’s run by stobart on behalf of Aer Lingus, their cabin agggage is different due to tge size of the plane (Aer Lingus use 737s, stobart ATR72s)

When you get to Dublin, you will be in terminal 2, if flying with Aer Lingus, Ryanair fly into terminal 1.

Follow the signs to US CBP, they will show you pictures of your cases (your cases will be checked through to mco at BHX)

Once through then you are officially in US territory, so when you land at MCO, straight off the plane, and to baggage hall (B I think) collect cases and off to your car. Simples😃

Thank you. Yes I think we are Stobart Air on our BHX-DUB leg. Interestingly on the way back that short hop is Aer Lingus. We’re not big hand luggage carriers anyway - particularly as we’re not having to stay anywhere the night before but will go and have an investigate.
