February or May (both half terms)?
Hello
Hoping that experienced peeps can help me decide when we should have our once in a lifetime family holiday for 5 (children age 10,12,14). Have reserved a villa through someone I know for February 2020 (as we want to go when Star Wars is open) but concerned that the temperatures won't be as nice and we won't be able to utilise the pool. Also concerned that May might be crowded. They are both UK Half terms but will be going for 2 weeks in total. Thank you in advance for any advice. |

Went in Feb this year and it was brilliant weather, not humid but more than warm enough for the pool. Never been in May but I think that if you do a bit of planning anytime is doable in terms of crowds, there always seems to be something dates clash with so which ever you prefer, hotter in May I am sure.

We’ve done both and I’d say crowds were slightly better in May but for me the biggest deciding factor here would be the opportunity to escape the awful UK February weather!

We've been three times in February. This year was very hot, high 20s to 30. The previous two times (2011 and 2013) the weather was more low 20s which suited me, and cooler in the mornings. We had a cold weekend in 2013.
This year we were there over Presidents' Day weekend which affects crowds, and also hit Mardi Gras week which was busy. I do like February as a time to go though |

We always go in May now . We did go mid April about 5 years and we certainly noticed the difference in the mornings . We found it too nippy to sit by the pool early morning before we set off to the parks. A few evenings felt a bit cooler too .It did get quite warm during the day though . It may had been a one off that time extra cool 1st thing , but it put us off going any earlier in the year . So I would imagine the mornings and evenings will be a lot chillier during Feb. I love it hot and humid . Just take a hoodie for the evenings and you prob be fine if you are going in Feb.

Daylight hours are shorter in February. We found the temperature dropped noticeably as the sun got lower.

Hi, we’ve been twice over Feb half term and once (last year) over May half term. We much preferred May as the high temperatures really extended our time in the parks, we could enjoy the parks at night as it was still lovely and warm and park hours were longer, which meant we got loads more done even though it was busier. In Feb it was chilly in the morning but tended to warm up during the day, however, as soon as the sun went down the temperature usually dropped again. It was very cold watching the fireworks by the lake at Epcot. We felt we were forever having to take layers off or put them on throughout the day, so we had more stuff to carry around the parks. Some days it was so cold we were all in jeans, jumpers and coats. In May we could enjoy pool time and water parks whenever we wanted because the weather was consistently good, but in Feb we had to be governed by the weather forecast and go when the temperature was high enough. The parks were busier in May, but we felt it added to the atmosphere. We have to go exclusively during school holidays now, so it’s August for the first time in 2019, so we’ll see how that compares!

We love February - usually great weather but as half term is only a week where we are we can't fit it in so it's Xmas or Summer for us (Easter is always an extended family Europe holiday)
