We always have valid Estas so we can travel whenever we want without worrying.

Like many other thinks some people seem to try to save a very small amount of money on a very expensive holiday that could have a huge impact in their enjoyment

Exactly what we do - always on our desktop as well with a large monitor.

I’ll be doing mine in the next week or so ready for November 2019. For the sake of $14 it’s not worth the risk.

Do you need to wait for a past ESTA to expire before apply for a new one?

No. Towards the end of the application just before the payment screen you'll get a message something like "You already have a valid ESTA for at least 30 days - do you wish to proceed?" or something like that. Just carry on and your P/P will be linked to the new ESTA.

Jumping on this... Hope you don't mind.
I need to do the family ESTA's
Me the wife 4 kids
But DD passport has run out she's only 13 so it was a 5 year.
Should I do ours now and do hers when it arrives or shall I do them all together?

My opinion only, if the passport is on way I think I would wait and do as a batch / group. You have 300 days so should be plenty of time.

On the other hand a DD of 13 is less likely to fall foul of any of the questions in the same way an adult might - so perhaps you / your partner might wish to review the questions in the interim.

If your DDS passport renewal.isnt in the system as yet I would do the others first and do hers later.

Personal view only. 😊

I did mine before I booked my flight just in case even though my answers wouldn't be "wrong" in the sense of refusal

Did mine at the weekend for next August. We were thinking of holding on until next year, in case we want a second visit on the same ESTA the year after we go, but our passports run out before then, so the ESTA will also run out then.

I'd do them as soon as possible really, its only $14 in the grand scheme of things, but its a very important $14 to mess up
