Ultimate tickets, getting your money's worth?

Hi

I'm trying to work out my ticket options for a 2 week break in May. I'll be staying off resort in LBV as a family of two adults and two 4 year olds.

Given the age of my children I'm thinking that the other parks aren't really going to do it for us so we'll be doing Disney only. That said we're also hiring a car and may well want to venture out of the Disney bubble from time to time to take in the sights.

I just wanted to know how much value people in similar positions have managed to get from Ultimate tickets compared to MYW. I do like the flexibility they give you but my inner skinflint doesn't want to spend more than I need to. Planning a holiday itinerary from your living room is all very well but often things change once you get boots on the ground.

All the prices are so annoyingly close together, one minute I'm thinking I should stop fretting and just spend the extra 100 quid, the next I'm thinking of the things I could buy with the little bit of money I save.

So to sum up, were your ultimate tickets good value?

I appreciate that everyone's holiday is different buy any experiences you could relay would be very helpful.

Thanks

Sorry, I can't really help. We couldn't decide either so in the end we just paid for the Ultimate 14 day tickets. We go in 5 weeks so it may be that we don't get our money's worth if the kids get too tired but once the money is spent it is spent and we will jake sure we enjoy ourselves.

Last time we went we went to
MKx2 full days , + 2 evenings after mini-golf
DHSx2 full days,
Epcotx2 REALLY full days, + morning of home day
AKx1,
mini-golfx6, dipped in and out, on shopping/late evening to park/rest days
disney quest x2 ( Free Memory maker this time instead)

I felt we got our money's worth from 14 day ultimates.

Do Magic Your Way tickets include Memory Maker? That strikes me as quite a valuable benefit to a young family.

We felt we got good value when we bought them in 2014. Off the top of my head we did Epcot x2 (poss 3 times)
MK X3
HS X2 (plus a visit for Fantasmic)
AK X1
Disney Quest x1 on our last day

I had no idea about what we would end up doing once we were there because it was our first visit. Overall I am glad we opted for the Ultimate 14 days tickets and we have done the same for our next visit.

I don't believe they do. I had a question about that in fact, how many pictures do you get to keep with the standard memory maker package?

You get unlimited downloads on Memory Maker - just depends how many pics you get taken - no limit on that either I don't think - some people talk of over 3000 pics in one holiday!

If it's £100 difference + the memory maker, then I'd go for the Ultimate tickets.

We have twice used 10 day magic your way base tickets, and saved a fair bit, but it does mean you have to be quite strict about which parks you do on which days, and we don't do water parks if we have a base ticket. The Ultimate is nice because you can just come and go without worrying about it. For a large saving, we can manage with the MYW, but we would always buy Memory Maker, so if adding that on makes them equal then it's an easy decision.

OK, I think that's all the reassurance I need.

Just taken the plunge and bought my 14 day Ultimate tickets from orlandoattractiontickets.co.uk.

It was a good deal if anyone is interested. £299 for adults and £279 for children and £5 off per person using the code MSE5 plus a load of vouchers I'm probably not going to use. Cheapest I could find anyway.

Also worth noting that having younger children, you can always leave the parks if they are tired, and then go back to the same park or another one later in the day. Alternatively, you could plan on just doing half days in the park, with the remainder of the day in a water park or off-site completely - the ultimate gives you the flexibility to do 14 half days if you wish.
