The whole Disney tickets/rides/queues has become a complete farce. Having to 'book' a ride weeks in advance - and even then you might not be able to get a spot - is just plain ludicrous. It amazes me how so many people are completely besotted with everything Disney and are totally blind to the cynical ways in which Disney attempt to squeeze every last penny out of their 'guests'. It's sickening.

I agree Disney are a money making machine, but that's generally how business works. They're a company and their aim is to maximise profits.

I disgaree about rides though. You don't have to book them, nobody is forcing you to. Just like nobosy is forcing you to go! You can still book fastpasses on the day or you can just turn up and queue as normal. I think people forget that sometimes.

It's just so stressful. Of course you have to try to book FP rides because you know everyone else will be, and if you don't then the odds are that you'll most likely be having to queue for ages or not get on the rides at all. We'll be a family of 11 going next year, with yours truly being the only one anywhere near clued-up enough to arrange everything. Of course I'll do it (with a (possibly forced) smile) for the sake of everyone else but I can't say I'm looking forward to it in the least.

Btw, the 'like it or lump it' argument is poor. People can still want to go but not be completely happy with the way some things work.

I get peoples points but they are complaining over nothing.

There are two separate systems. Fast pass and child swap are different paths to the same goal.

Yeah you don't need child swap if you have fast pass... but you have child swap for the times you don't have fast pass.

You moan like you are doing and attach Disney because you can't abuse the system beyond its design just because no one enforced it in the pass is a little silly.

We both fastpasses for the ones who want to ride. We have never played this game. Always got everything done and with happy kids.

Hammer - Nail - Head Disney are trying to squeeze more guests through the park gates. Those extra guests need ride capacity, but Disney haven't invested in anything like enough extra capacity, so they're trying to creatively create it.

Actually it is the opposite. They have admitted for years now they want fewer guests, but those eho spend more.

Parks crammed to capacity pleases no-one.

The FP system is free. You don’t have to use it if you don’t want to.

Likewise you don’t have to make ADRs if you don’t want to.

Of course Disney - like every other business - wants to get as much out of you as they can. And there are many ways they do this - but most of them are optional. If you don’t want to pay the extra, you can have a wonderful holiday without all the bells and whistles.

We’ve got 3 adults plus one child and a baby for part of the holiday and 5 adults plus one child and the baby for part of the holiday.
It all got so confusing for me my brain switched off, so just got a FP+ for each person with a ticket which excluded the baby.
That means that we will go down the FP+ line in two different groups as someone will wait outside with the baby.
Presumably that works!
So we won’t use that rider swap at all?
Then on rides that the young kiddie and baby can’t do we will still go on the ride using the FP+ in two different groups and the kiddies will just have to wait patiently whilst the adults ride perhaps with an ice cream!
So again no rider swap.
I do know I could have used this facility but I just couldn’t be bothered to figure it out.
Is there a flaw in my plans that I’ve missed?

To me its really simple...

Ride switch is for anything you don't have a fast pass for...

If you all have a fast pass you don't need rider switch... (probably worth still getting the ticket so you can go off and do something else)

Simples

I have no issue with people chancing their arms by the second group not having a fast pass and it working... but I do find it annoying people would moan and complain when Disney enforce the rules...

It was never designed so the little one had something to do - it was designed so parents didn't have to queue twice and therefor extending the time the little one had nothing to do.
