Angel cake recipe
Hi
Just tried out an angel cake recipe that I found online and i hate it when you use a load of ingredients and its a massive fail! The 3 layers are currently cooling but they are going in the bin, they haven't risen and using an apple corer to check a bit, its like a solid damp disc... not happy grrr The recipe I used, did use plain flour, knew I should have used self raising instead... It was 200g butter/margarine, 270g sugar, 270g flour, 225ml sour cream, 3 eggs, 1.5tsp baking powder, vanilla... So frustrating. m

I’ve never made an angel cake? Is this the one that’s supposed to pull itself up the tin? If so, did you grease it? I think you’re not supposed to 🤔
I completely know how you feel. The amount I spent on failed macarons before I cracked it is quite depressing! *I thought an angel cake was fatless. I really think I need to google this! Edited at 03:24 PM. |

My recipient has no butter in it uses self-raising flour and 12egg whites
Etc and a angel food cake tin and you don’t grease the tin works every time Is the one you found the one with the 3coloured layers like batenburg It didn’t work for me either |

yea its the three layered yellow pink white with the buttercream between. Not the other type of angel cake that you find. Still annoyed, but it happens. x will try again with a different recipe eventually!

I just use my favourite sponge one and add yellow and pink colouring
My sponge one only has an ounce of melted butter so it’s really light |

yea probably the best idea. Wanted something a little bit heavier than a sponge, its more of a soft madeira kind of cake though. Maybe a pound cake recipe? hmm

Yes a pound cake might work or maybe a yogurt type cake or lemon drizzle. Type base
