They keep their smell for over a year and yes remind me of home - my mother used to pick lavender from the garden and dry it and throughout the year place some stems in the pillows cases so like you the smell takes me back to the safety of being young, carefree and at home .

I only have one set I use, so I wash it, dry it and put it straight back on the bed.

When I used to have two sets I’d have the ‘used’ set stored, then put it straight on the bed once washed. (Hope that makes sense!)
