Mocking peoples' spelling and grammar.

I've noticed something becoming more prevalent on Dibb. It usually occurs in a heated debate, it's happened at least twice this week.
This is when someone starts mocking the standard of grammar or spelling of another poster.
It is very poor form. Not everyone enjoyed the same standard of education, and on at least one of those posts the poster being criticised was dyslexic.
If you are not good at grammar or spelling or dyslexic, it is quite something to have the confidence to write on Dibb and it must be very demoralising to be criticised for this.
As I say, poor form.

This is a discussion forum and as such i believe people should be able to express themselves in any way they can as long as it is not offensive , abusive or discriminatory. So just like a chat down the pub if you don't follow the proper english etiquette who cares as long as you get you view/id across.
So I support Yorkshire T , its poor form.

I have noticed that the Dibb is not quite as friendly as it used to be.

Society in general is not as nice as it used to be sadly.

All I can say is: if anyone has an issue with any post, flag it using the Red Triangle button, and the mods will look in to it.

The mods generally do a fabulous and thankless job, but as is always the case, we all have a part in calling out poor behaviour.

All credit to YorkshireT for making the case.

I agree. There are the same few people who quite often are quite harsh with their comments.

YT, well done

I consider myself to be reasonably articulate and able to put my view across.

However I was chucked out of school at 15 and the price I pay for that is I struggle with punctuation etc.
I just sling commas and full stops wherever they look ok

As I try to teach my children... do not write anything that you wouldn't say out loud to someone's face. Yes, as above, if you were chatting to someone and they weren't speaking as nicely as you, or speaking slang, would you call them out to their face? Unlikely. So why do you thinks it's acceptable to do it online? It isn't.

It's nice to be nice... let's remember that x

I know a few people on here with issues with their spelling, but I wouldn’t dream of correcting them. It doesn’t really matter that much on here.
Let’s all make a point of being nice to one another, treat people as you would like to be treated in real life! It soon becomes an easy habit!
