Made me laugh this. Only chance I'd be there at 6 am is jet lag first morning.

We planned on doing this last week. The crowds were bigger than expected so we did Aerosmith and ToT before heading over to GE, to let the first rush get thru. The posted wait time was 45 mins but I think we got thru in 20-25 mins. To be honest I wasn't overly impressed with Smugglers Run, prefer the original Star Tours ride. Felt like there was too much going on with Smugglers, too concerned about pushing buttons rather than enjoying the actual ride and watching the main screen

If you're awake anyway then definitely do it, I did my first two days because I was awake at 5am anyway. Don't make a special effort though to set an alarm

Yes we went on our second day, we were awake at 4.30 and were at the gates of hollywood studios at 5.50,we walked to Galaxy's edge and straight on smugglers run we then had loads of pictures done had breakfast in Docking bay 7, we then went to Toy story land walked on slinky dog twice and alien swirling saucers, then went back into Galaxy's edge for oga's cantina!
All before the park opened it was great!

We did it this morning. We managed to ride smugglers run, TSM, alien saucers and meet Mickey and Minnie. Also had a leisurely breakfast at woodys lunchbox and we didn’t rush anywhere just soaked it all in. We were then first in line to meet chewie at 9am and got given a free print of our photo for being the first family! And had a FP for slinky and left the park at about 11. Amazing morning!

I don’t think it is 100% necessary to be there that early, if you have FP for slinky anyway smugglers run wait times aren’t too bad on a regular day if you time it right!

We also got there for 7am on Monday and rode ToT and rock n rollercoaster twice each and left by 8.30 after having a wander!

We did this three times, first time we were on and off by 6.30 and then straight to slinky which we did twice. We then did everything else before 9 and after that had a leisurely stroll round the rest taking in GE and characters. We’re back at our hotel chilling before lunch. Second time the line for slinky was longer than GE so third time we did toy story land first then everything else.

Done this a couple of times, today walked from rope drop to the ride & was done in half an hour, wait time was 70 mins when we got off, but dropped to about 40 by 7am. We then did Slinky, TSM, RNR, TOT, met Mickey & Minnie & left at 9am.
Later in the day SR is usually abaout 40 mins, but Slinky always higher!

It's an option but not necessary imo. We arrived at 8am (due to OH forgetting his magic band so had to return to room), went straight to GE. Posted wait for Smugglers run was 45 mins, but queue moved much faster and we were on in 20 mins. The land itself has big wide pathways so has rarely felt packed, and we have been 4 times in the last 10 days.

For us, to get Slinky Dog and other rides in as well, best option has been to go in the evening and get in queues about an hour before close. We have done Alien Swirling saucers and Toy Story Mania as walk ons, and waited 35 minutes (posted time was 55 but queue looked shortest we had seen it) for Slinky Dog Dash.
