George Michael - Freedom
I wasn't really a fan of Wham nor did I follow him when he went solo. I recorded this documentary that was aired on Monday night channel 4 and just sat and watched it now. I absolutely loved it. At times I had tears in my eyes listening to him being totally frank about the death of his first true love then his mother. His music over the years was played and many a star that he duetted with spoke of his professionalism. I found myself singing along to loads of songs and have to admit he was a truly fantastic artist. It was a remarkable documentary and if you have catch up, it's worth a watch.

I have recorded it to watch with my DH. We were both Wham fans (possibly me more than DH) and we both loved George's solo work. Biggest regret is that we never went to see him live (friends went but we couldn't make it ).
I am looking forward to the programme but I know I will be crying my eyes out throughout. Such a great loss |

I watched it yesterday and was in tears by the end of it. I loved him and was lucky enough to see him in concert. Gone way before his time.

We watched it on Monday. Seemed such a genuinely nice guy and you could understand his songs more listening to him saying how they came about.
I used to love Wham and then George as a solo artist and was very sad watching the documentary. What an incredible voice he had. Gone far too soon . |

I’ve never been a massive fan, but I loved this documentary and will definitely be looking to purchase his back catalogue. How he got through singing that Freddie Mercury tribute? So sad that his happiness seemed so fleeting. A true artist, we seem to have lost so many of those recently.

I watched this and was moved by it. What a talent he was, he was right in that interview in which he basically said that his “type” of star was a sign of the times not to be seen again. I’m not and never have been a fan in the true sense of the word, but always appreciated his talent and star quality.

He was my favourite artist so I was aware that this documentary was being recorded prior to his death and had looked forward to seeing it before he died.
Watching it after his death was far more poignant than I could have imagined. Incidentally, I sort of stumbled across his talent by accident in my early teens, a group of us went to several pop concerts Culture Club, Paul Young, Human League, Elton John and Wham to name but a few and it was hearing George sing live that got me hooked. I was fortunate enough to see him solo on several occasions courtesy of a lovely husband buying several concert tickets.

I loved Wham and George Michael. I still tell my DD that George was her father I was very fortunate to see George when he played at Newcastle. He never got over losing his first love, then the devastation loss of his Mam.
His music has a special place in my heart and my DD as she has been brought up listening to him from Day 1. She gets married on the 4th November and of course I have have requested Wham and George Michael music to be played to the upset of others!
