Mobile UK night away with taster menu

It's our anniversary in January and we always try and get away for a few days without kids but with the house extension, etc don't want the extravagance of a weekend abroad so settling for one night in UK.

We live in Cheshire so easy train or drive best.

We were spoilt last year by recommendation on Dibb for Angels with Bagpipes in Edinburgh and would love somewhere similar. Every tempted to go back 🤔 We had 7 course taster menu with paired drinks for £75 each!

Can anyone recommend somewhere at a similar price? Looked at Liverpool and Chester but can only find the Grosvenor and it's a lot more expensive. Not familiar with Manchester.

Can you lovely Dibbers help?

Not sure if you meant manor hall or the new Moor Hall?

We live in Aughton so we've been to Moor Hall a few times. It's also won a michelin star in its first year of business which is quite impressive.

The bedrooms are amazing if you chose to stay over and there are two restaurants to choose from.

1. Fine dining where an 8 course specially chosen menu will run you about £105. The service is more friendly than you'd expect but the food is VERY fine diney and idiosyncratic. I'd really encourage you to check out the sample menu to see if you're as adventurous as they'd like you to be.

2. "the barn" which is a lot more down to earth but all the better for it IMHO - a really nice a la carte experience with a piano player and great surroundings.

It's definitely a great night out whichever you go for and if you choose to stay over in one of the amazing rooms, it's even better.

Have a look at the lunch menu at L'enclume in Cartmel - we had an amazing meal there.

It was a low key weekend, but Fab

We were gifted an overnight and dinner at Gilpin House in the Lake District for our silver wedding. Food was fantastic, would highly recommend.

We like the Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel at Bolton Abbey. It belongs to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and is part of the Chatsworth Estate. It's in a stunning location with some beautiful scenery. Harrogate, Ilkley and York are all quite close by.
