Hotel recommendation - North West/Yorkshire

I'm wanting to book a romantic hotel for 1 night between Xmas and New Year for DH and I. Has anyone stayed any where really nice? I've spent hours looking and going round in circles!

I've put North West/Yorkshire but willing to travel a little further.

Thanks

I would second the Devonshire Arms, we have had some lovely stays there. A bit further north but But Rockliffe Hall is lovely with a fantastic spa.

If you wanted something in a city try Quebecs Hotel in Leeds. DH and I went there a couple of weeks ago on a Christmas shopping trip and it was really fab. Really lovely rooms and friendly staff.

Crab Manor (attached to the Crab and Lobster restaurant) in Asenby, Yorkshire - not far from Thirsk. Check out their website, amazingly themed rooms and fab food. May be difficult to get in though.

Yes, DH made very good use of it - I don't drink beer though!
