Free parking at a DVC resort
Hi
If we rent DVC through a re-seller for a stay in a DVC resort will we get free parking of we are not DVC members? Also, if you stay at a DVC resort booked directly through Disney, like OKW, do you get free parking then? Thanks

If you rent DVC points there is no parking charge as the DVC member has paid for upkeep of the parking area as part of their dues.
I'm not 100% on dates but I think it's from January 2020 that you would pay parking if you book a stay through Disney.

Thank you, really helpful. The Disney website confused me as it says that DVC members get free parking

I would be surprised if anyone is charged parking fees at DVC resorts including cash bookings. DVC owners pay dues for all amenities, how can disney charge for something that is already paid for? Disney get inventory for OKW from owners exchanging out to other places. I think it might depend on which DVC resort. I would be interested in finding out.
Just read up on it and if dvc member but paying cash they don’t get charged parking. If not a dvc member and paying cash they do get charged cash. Edited at 11:48 PM. |

Good point- this is how I see it:
1) Cash booking- DVC can charge what they want as they enter into a separate contract with a retail purchaser. They can say they will charge for breathing the air if they want (I am sure they have considered). 2) When the points are rented or used by the member, DVC has no contract with the renter. It is between the renter and the owner. In fact, DVC have no idea if the points are even rented. The points already have had the parking paid via the owner by his/ her proportion of upkeep, so DVC have no legal jurisdiction to ask for it to be paid again. In fact to do so would be breach of contract and actionable.
