My Big Fat Disney Wedding September 2012 Pre-Trippie
Hello peeps!
I've read many pre-trippie's and have decided to do one of my own for this trip, partly to keep you all in the know, partly because I love to talk about it, and partly because I want to keep a documented record of our plans to add to our post-trippie after the wedding...like a little diary! So, who are we: I'm Natalie, currently 24, and a Law & Spanish graduate living with DFi (Matt) in Bournemouth. I currently work as a Medical Underwriter at Standard Life Healthcare (soon to be PruHealth) DFi, Matt, is currently 31, is a Manager for Next. He has 2 children, Josh (8) and Kieran (4) We met 5 years ago whilst working at Sainsburys together, and got together the following February (2006) I have always been a Disney fan. Matt took some convincing to say the least. In September 2007, we went with my sister to WDW for his first trip. I've lost count of mine. He got on the Magical Express with the stars and video and was genuinely scared about how he would survive the following 2 weeks. He was convinced it was going to be Disney sweetness in your face. 2 weeks later, on the plane home after an awesome 2 weeks of fun, sun, food & coasters, and he admitted it was the best holiday of his life When it came to his 30th in 2008, I couldn't think of anything better to get him than 5 days at DLP, which he also loved. Before we left on that trip, free DDP was announced for WDW in 2009 and we booked with TCD. They went bust on our last day in DLP, but the next day, we booked again with Disney Travel Company for a better price...bargain! There was no question about where we wanted to go on that holiday. Whilst we were on that 2nd trip together to WDW in 2009 (on our own this time), he proposed to me. It was 13th September, in front of the castle, during evening magic hours. Perfect! My real ring didn't arrive in time before we departed, so he picked me a special one in WDW. If you can't see, it's the classic Mickey head. Even though I have my real ring now, I still wear my Mickey one on my other hand. I love it so much, and it got a real reaction from Mickey & Minnie when we met them I has always been my dream to get married in WDW and after 2 amazing trips, it didn't take much convincing that that was where we should get married. The weather, the magic, it's going to be perfect. Our original plan was to get married at Wedding Gazebo, Yacht Club, as that was where I saw my first DFTW. However, having seen so many pictures of Sea Breeze Point weddings (Boardwalk) on The Dibb, we have decided that there is something about it that we cannot resist. We are hoping to depart the UK on 31 August 2012, and get married on 06 September 2012, depending on dates for flights, available dates for the wedding etc I have been a bit premature at planning etc but I just can't curb my excitement! I'm sure some of it will change but over the coming days, weeks and months, I will post details about the wedding and our UK party I hope you will all enjoy it! |

The dress...
I've always wanted a princess style dress, and there's no more appropriate place to have that style of dress IMO
Since we were travelling abroad though, when we first decided on the location, we thought I may be restricted to having a Monsoon-style dress that's just straight down. It wasn't my dream though but the location was more important to me than that though! However, when I read wedding trippies on The Dibb, I saw that other brides had managed to have the big dress, so why couldn't I? The only way I could explain my dream dress is to say it's similar to Kate Hudson's in Bride Wars (the film with Anne Hathaway) The skirt was the main thing I was getting at. I knew for the bodice I wanted something a bit more 'special' but I really liked the ribbon around the waist on this dress, so I really would like that too I contacted a couple of dressmakers in my local area as what I had in mind was so specific, I didn't think it would be something I could find in a boutique. I am still of that opinion. The budget I have for my dress is £500 and I wondered if this would be achievable but more than one person/company has said that it is so I believe them! I have decided on the company I am going to use, who has said they'll do my veil, hoops/petticoat, garter and dress for £500 within my budget, which is great. I think this is because they are saving on postage costs as I live company although they delivered nationwide Here are the designs they are providing me with I am going with design number 4. The 'dots' are apparently called sea-beads, or something like that and this is the shape it will be at the bottom The designer has said before I order it, I can go to her studio, try on dresses of similar shapes, she her portfolio and plenty of samples I am planning on ordering it early next year, which is 18 months out. I know it's far in advance but if it's ordered, I have no choice but to keep my new skinny image that I'm currently working on, and it'll be so exciting to have it. I don't think alterations will be included for the price so I'll have to find someone locally to do that too. I'm sure I won't change my mind, as I haven't found anything more perfect for me in all my hours of research! |

Aww its all so very very exciting and great idea for a diary! love the pics of your dress and fab price (still haven't watched the movie but will do!). What a sweet and romantic story too and the Mickey ring is fab! I flew out to Orlando on the 13th Sept last year the very day you got engaged and were having the best moment of your life!
Looking forward to watching it all develop! P.S. Out of interest which Sainsburys was it? |
