Thanks. I clearly misread/misunderstood. Still, if it’s not the default for WDW access, we will have to see whether the genie brings better functionality/benefits.

I had read that hotel guests will get a discount on magic bands. I imagine in a similar way to the upgrade ones now. No idea what the discount will be or if it remain limited to certain magic bands

If the App works properly for many they are redundant and/or they already have them, if the alternative is to raise room rates for all to keep them free I prefer the option to buy them, similarly I also prefer car parking charges being optional rather than everyone pays a surcharge to accommodate "free" parking.

That being said for this years cancelled trip I was hiring a car and paying for parking, and when I do visit again I will undoubtedly get the magic bands. Both of those are my choice and I pay, I don't see it being fair that those who don't have a car and don't want the bands should be paying more for a room for my benefits.

One of my (many 😂 ) concerns are the faster rides. I don’t go on them and Dh and DD’s give me there phones to look after because they have know where to put them. As they are usually in shorts and T-shirt’s. Maybe we might just get the cards and a lanyard like we do at universal.

Or probably we will end up using last years if I can find them, or most likely just pay for new ones?

We will never know if there is a surcharge for bands hidden or other wise, the prices are not about to go down same when they started charging for parking.

10 quid per band will make them a sizeable amount of money.

No other Disney park in the world has gone down the Magic Band route. They have seen how much they cost to produce, and concluded that they offer the same functionality as a room card or an app, so have decided not to bother.

Personally I like MBs and would happily pay for one. But it's not like the world will end if they stop them - every other park manages without them.

Personally I would pay for them, i didn’t like the plain and boring ones lol.
I’m not a phone person, and don’t normally carry it around on holiday and if I do it maybe might come out once , certainly don’t want to be totally reliant on my phone Hate the idea , it’s bad enough with people walking round with their faces in their screens not looking where they are going l9l.

They need to vastly improve their wifi otherwise people are going to get huge bills when they get back home. Are they honouring the free magic bands for people who booked before this announcement?
