We have a vague plan for a family trip to WDW in a few years with our children and their partners, don’t know if it will happen or not, but one thing we are all agreed on is that we will be staying onsite so that we can meet up as and when we want to, but that we won’t be joined at the hip and each couple can come and go as they please without relying on anyone else for transport.
In the past we have had family holidays with one other couple, first to Spain in an apartment complex where each family had their own apartment. Then a few years later we rented a large villa together, they have children roughly the same age as ours so we were doing roughly the same things anyway. A couple of years ago we (the 2 couples) all had our first child free holiday together on a cruise, which was great as we could be tight during the day or do our own things and meet for dinner etc in the evenings. We are still great friends with them and we’re actually going for a weekend getaway with them in a few weeks. It works well for us, we have holidays on our own as well, but we enjoy their company and have the same views/outlook on a lot of things so that helps. We have other friends who have suggested joint holidays to us but we’ve never went with them, I know I wouldn’t fully relax and enjoy my holidays with them so have politely declined. So joint holidays can work, you just need to pick your holidays companions carefully |

Definately not Florida and unlikely anywhere else.
We have done a weeks holiday in different accommodation with my parents pre kids and either spend day together or evening but never both. Worked fine. Did a weeks holiday with In laws in same house but they had no transport and despite saying they'd use buses to be independent, they liked the sound of our plans each day. Also the snoring nearly killed me. Not repeated in 9 years. |

We are going with 2 couples who've never been before and staying in the same villa.
The theory is...me, DW and our friend (who usually go to Florida together anyway) will have 1 car and the 'new' 4 can have their own car and they can go and do what they like and just use the villa as a base. We'll go to a few places together but half the time I expect us to say goodbye in the morning and only see them at the end of the day when we are all home.

We are currently in Spain in a villa with my parents, my son, his girlfriend and my niece.
It’s a big 10 person villa. No issues apart from all being ready to leave at the same time some days . Having a great time Edited at 07:24 AM. |
