I don't think I've ever seen anyone in the communal pool on any villa complex I've stayed on.

I would definitely have your own pool - you can't beat it in my opinion!

I always stay in a villa, and we've never used a communal pool before. We do use them if we stay at Disney or Universal, but I've never considered a communal pool in my decision on villa choice.

I think it might be a nice to have but not the defining factor on my villa choice.
Have had a number of villas with private pools over the year and I can only think of once when we have used the communal pool. We take / buy dive sicks, and a float and think more about the size / orientation of the pool in the private villa as a deciding factor. My kids have a large age gap, although smaller than yours and I would say that the older two happily revert to the age of the youngest in the pool 😂 Also, I echo the thoughts of the pp who mentioned that you don't see the same people. We have found this even when we have been in a condo with only a communal pool. Plus, if your youngest is a water baby it's much easier to keep an eye on them in a private pool than having to go to the communal.pool each time. However if you are a serious swimmer I can see how the draw of some serious swimming would also be there. |

I'd prefer own private pool given the choice, like own company to loads of people in a communal one

Every communal pool we have been in had been heated, with a hot tub.
Every time we were the only users. Perfect. |
