Under 25

Hi. I am aware that under 25 attract a premium for car hire. But does anyone know whether this is also the case if they are an additional driver rather than the main driver?

The way I read it the premium is payable if you want them to drive in any capacity. I'm sure that is the case.

When we went and I was under 25, I had to be the lead driver. But, that was because we booked an under 25 package with alamo online.

I imagine the fee is payable regardless if they're lead or additional driver.

the surcharge does apply if any driver is underage.

check with different car hire companies as policies may not all be the same

I believe that Virgins top level of insurance automatically covers all under - 25s in the party.

Normally the under 25 is charged the additional fee regardless of main or additional driver tag. One of 2 do not charge for under 25, but that is rare.

Companies vary so it is important to check before booking. For instance, although AVIS allow the main driver to be under 25, they do not allow under 25's as additional drivers. Silly, but thats their rule.

If booking seperately DFCH, usrentacar etc have young driver packages where you can have multiple drivers under 25, but you obviously pay in the young driver price.
