Passport question
I have just received an advisory email from Virgin stating that as from the 1st April anyone travelling to the US on the Visa Waiver Program must have a ePassport, and to check my passport to see if it has the ePassport symbol on the front cover.
After looking I can't find any symbol on the front cover and I still have until 2019 before it expires. Mine is just the dark red passport with gold writing on the front. Is this okay ? We don't go until June so if I need a replacement I have plenty of time, but if everyone has to change passports it's going to get busy. |

All passports issued after November 2006 would be e passports so really anything valid after the start of 2017 should have the symbol.
Mine didnt but ran out in December 2016 so just got it renewed for our Christmas trip (it would have needed renewing anyway) so the percentage of people who need to renew and lose time (they can add up to 9 months on) is relatively small (adult only childrens passports are 5 years) |

Don't worry it is only a requirement to get in to the US and not to get back in to the UK.
